Mandate

   Promote and foster initiatives for projects, programmes, legislation, studies and dissemination actions aimed at boosting the areas of activity of cultural and creative industries;

   Encourage the private sector to support the development of cultural and creative industries, contributing to job creation and income generation;

   Stimulate the development of cultural and creative products, goods and services;

   Contribute to enhancing the value of cultural and creative products branded as “made in Mozambique” and “created in Mozambique”;

   Promote the affixing of an official seal on cultural and creative products and services whose origin or patent is Mozambican;

   Encourage technological modernisation of key sectors of Cultural Industries, Creative Industries, Cultural Expressions and Functional Creations;

   Establish cultural databases and statistics;

   Promote studies and mapping of artistic and cultural potential;

   Research and explore international markets for national cultural products and services;

   Encourage and drive growth, productivity, competitiveness and sustainability across cultural and creative sectors.

Responsibilities

   Implement specific policies in the domains of Cultural Industries, Creative Industries, Cultural Expressions and Functional Creations;

   License and supervise activities inherent to Cultural and Creative Industries;

   Facilitate access of local cultural goods and services to new markets;

   Organise or support the delivery of congresses, seminars, colloquia, conferences, courses, internships, fairs and festivals at national and international levels;

   Participate in the adoption of economic, legal, administrative and financial measures aimed at promoting industries within this field;

   Map and promote artistic and cultural potential;

   Collaborate with other bodies, national and international institutions, as well as with other countries, on matters within its mandate;

   Establish mechanisms for the management and sustainable use of cultural heritage;

   Ensure the protection of copyright and related rights, and the implementation of legislative standards on the matter;

   Improve the quality of artistic and cultural goods and services, ensuring their competitiveness in international trade;

   Any other duties assigned by law.
